I have been a professional freelance writer since 2007. For over 37 years I received numerous awards and certificates as an instructor and lecturer. I continue to help caregivers understand the challenges they face taking care of a loved one with Alzheimer's.
I am an accomplished musician, vocalist, writer, composer and motivational speaker. I am a native San Franciscan but I've traveled the globe and lived in Europe. I now live back in the Bay Area. I am not only a writer but also a motivational speaker. I wrote my her first book after my mother passed from Alzheimer's. I am a member of the San Joaquin Writers Group.
My first book called, The Other Side of Alzheimer's, A Caregiver's story, is an in-depth look at what it took for me to be a caregiver for my mother. The book was so inspiring that The Alzheimer's Association has invited me to speak in Capri, Italy and Johannesburg, South Africa to families who find themselves as caregivers and who feel devastated by this disease. I continues to speak to churches, groups and communities. I've received several awards for my participation. Excerpts from my speech can be viewed on the picture/video page. I continue to speak to groups and churches. I've had the opportunity to speak at the California State Baptist Congress in Bakersfield Ca. Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Former First Lady of California Maria Shriver have sent me letters supporting my efforts to spread the word. I continue to share my story to families, friends and everyone who is affected by this disease. I will continue to do book signings and participate in book festivals. This book is on Audible.
Growing up I loved a good murder mystery. So I've turned my attention to writing murder mysteries. My first novel in the Evelyn Jenkins series is The Gospel Choir Murder. The story takes place in Oakland and involves the Oakland CA Gabriel Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir. Evelyn Jenkins is a member of the choir and the coordinator for the four-city concert tour. Things are going well until they become involved in a murder.
The second novel in the Evelyn Jenkins Series is Thou Shalt Kill. Again it is set in Oakland CA. Evelyn Jenkins sets up a booth at the Oakland Baptist convention, seeking new clients for her travel business. She never expects to end up in the middle of another murder investigation or to find herself gazing into a detective’s fine brown eyes. Evelyn never does hear the dynamic preacher who has become the talk of the town.
The Third book "Murder without a home," in this series will be available October 2021.
All books are available at Amazon, B&N, Ebooks, Smashwords and in bookstores worldwide.
